This job in a nutshell

To strengthen our estate planning team, we are looking for a new junior colleague. You will work from our office in Ghent.

You will join a young and dynamic team with a loose and personal atmosphere. The estate planning team advises its (national and international) clients on all aspects of family estate law and estate planning (such as matrimonial and relationship property law, inheritance law, gifts, wills, civil law, corporate and legal entities law, as well as inheritance, gift and registration tax).

Join the BDO family, a worldwide consulting firm where you can bring your own personality to your job! We help organisations grow sustainably with our expertise in audit & assurance, tax & legal, advisory and accountancy.

At BDO, you are not just a number. Your wellbeing and development are just as important to us as the personal, hands-on advice and pragmatic solutions we offer our clients. Because as you grow, so do we and so do our clients. That is why our slogan is 'Let's Grow Together'!

What will you be doing?

Together with our experienced colleagues, your role consists in providing legal and tax advice and preparing legal deeds and agreements in execution of this advice.

This includes:

  • Solving complex issues on all aspects of family property law and estate planning, if necessary with an international dimension (private international law);
  • Working out planning options for transferring assets (in the best tax sense);
  • Answering specific questions on family estate law and estate planning;
  • Making inheritance tax calculations;
  • Preparation of all kinds of deeds and agreements tailored to the client (donation, will, partnership, foundation, etc.);
  • Preparation of estate tax returns.

You are also responsible for monitoring (legislative) developments in the relevant areas of law and for writing articles on inheritance planning for websites and publications.

What do you bring to the table?

  • You (will) have a Master in Law, preferably with an additional degree in Taxation, Notarial Law and/or Company Law;
  • You have a passion for estate planning;
  • You have a dynamic personality with drive, commitment and a pragmatic attitude;
  • You are flexible and available;
  • You are Dutch-speaking. Active knowledge of French and English is a plus;
  • You are sociable;
  • You are a team player with strong communication skills, both oral and written;
  • You are proactive, with integrity and like to take initiative and responsibility.

What do we bring to the table?

  • Culture: you will join a family of experts who encourage respect, diversity and teamwork. You work in an open culture, so feel free to speak to anyone, at any level
  • Development: you decide the direction of your career, and we support you where necessary. Our BDO Academy provides a whole range of training courses to help.
  • Impact: from day 1 you will be given responsibility, with support from your team.
  • Network: you can work on different projects and clients, across business practices.
  • Flexibility: you choose where you work with flexible working hours.
  • Wellbeing: your physical and mental health is important to us.
  • Salary: you receive a competitive salary package with interesting benefits (company car, insurances, phone abo, meal vouchers, eco vouchers, 13th month, ...).
  • Sustainability: you work within a company with an integrated sustainability policy.

Were you nodding to yourself enthusiastically as you read through the job description? Then be sure to send us your CV right away! May we soon welcome you as a new colleague!
