This job in a nutshell

We live in a fast changing world, full of challenges and opportunities. In order to succeed as a business, it's crucial to react swiftly to these changes.

Join the BDO BELGIUM family, a worldwide consulting firm where you can bring your own personality to your job! We help organisations grow sustainably with our expertise in audit & assurance, tax & legal, advisory and accountancy.

At BDO BELGIUM, you are not just a number. Your wellbeing and development are just as important to us as the personal, hands-on advice and pragmatic solutions we offer our clients. Because as you grow, so do we and so do our clients. That is why our slogan is 'Let's Grow Together'!

What will you be doing?

As a Compliance Consultant, your duties are highly varied. Together with more experienced colleagues, you work on various compliance-related assignments such as Anti-Money Laundering & Counter-Terrorist Financing (AML/CFT), Know Your Customer (KYC), MiFID II (Client Protection in Invest), GDPR (Data Privacy) and also broader, build the Compliance Framework and upgrade the Compliance function to Digital Comliancy 2.0. In practice, this involves:

  • Supporting operational teams in charge of alert handling and file review.
  • Providing support in the preparation and updating of compliance documentation.
  • Contributing to the development and finetuning of compliance policies and procedures.
  • Support improving the compliance processes and implement new tools.

You will spend most of your time at your client’s office, and come to the office to attend team meetings and catch-up with your colleagues. You are basically involved in all aspects of your assignments, while being able to count on your colleagues for the necessary support and feedback. You gain knowledge through operational experience, gradually moving onto more high-level assignments, where you can work on optimizing the existing compliance processes or support in implementing new ones.

What do you bring to the table?

  • If you were to describe yourself, one of the first terms to come to mind would be “flexible”. Juggling multiple deadlines or dealing with several different files on the same day? A piece of cake for you.
  • You are happy to take the initiative and present new ideas, but also receptive to your colleagues’ point of view. You make sure to keep them informed of a project’s progress; team spirit is the way to go for you.
  • You are always searching for the most efficient way of working, looking into technical solutions as well.
  • Your work is analytical and meticulous. You are capable of objectively and critically assessing your own and others’ work.
  • Stress? What’s that? You are good at setting priorities and handle deadlines well. Delivering work on time is not a problem for you.
  • You are native in Dutch and French and have a excellent understanding of the other language; a strong proficiency in English is also an important asset.
  • You will graduate with a Master’s degree in Commercial Engineering, Applied Economics, Commercial Science, Legal, Risk Management or similar fields.
  • You are comfortable to work mainly in our Zaventem office and go to clients in Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia.

What do we bring to the table?

  • Start in a general position and discover which types of clients, duties or specialisations suit you best. After the starters days, you will build your own career along with your other new colleagues.
  • Take on increasing amounts of responsibility as the rest of your team stands by, ready to support you.
  • BDO Academy’s extensive list of training courses helps you grow both personally and professionally.
  • Sample projects from other Business Practices through our “flex pool”.
  • Options to work from home and flexible working hours.
  • A competitive salary package with many attractive benefits such as a net expense allowance, company car, mobile phone plan, hospitalisation insurance, etc.
  • Work at a company with an integrated sustainability policy on issues such as climate impact and equality, diversity and inclusion, which actively contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Were you nodding to yourself enthusiastically as you read through the job description? Then be sure to send us your CV right away! May we soon welcome you as a new colleague!
