This job in a nutshell

Are you communicatively strong, flexible, recently or nearly graduated and do you enjoy variety in your work? Continue developing your talents as a Tax Consultant in our dynamic team in Mouscron.

Welcome to the BDO family, a worldwide consulting firm where you can bring your own personality to your job! We help organisations grow sustainably with our expertise in audit & assurance, tax & legal, advisory and accountancy.

At BDO, you are not just a number. Your wellbeing and development are just as important to us as the personal, hands-on advice and pragmatic solutions we offer our clients. Because as you grow, so do we and so do our clients. That is why our slogan is 'Let's Grow Together'!

What will you be doing?

What will your work day look like?

As a Junior Tax Consultant, you arrive at the office—where you’ll spend most of your time—, check your inbox and draw up a schedule for the day. First, you finish up a file for your manager, carefully checking it for errors and missing information. While you’re working on this, you await a call from the Accountancy team asking you to check a preliminary version of the quarterly tax review. You enjoy diving into the numbers and will check every detail if necessary. Basically, you spend your time checking that various items are actually correct. Are the expenditures in order? Have the correct tax procedures been followed? The day flies by, and before you know it it’s time to go home. Before leaving, you make a quick to-do list for the next day. Just a scribble:

  • Prepare advice on tax questions!
  • Review Client X tax return!

What do you bring to the table?

  • “Flexibility” is definitely a trait of yours, according to both yourself and others. Juggling multiple deadlines or dealing with several different files on the same day? A piece of cake for you.
  • You are happy to take the initiative and present new ideas, but also receptive to your colleagues’ point of view. Team spirit is a given.
  • Stress? What’s that? You are good at planning and handle deadlines well. Delivering work on time is not a problem for you.
  • You insist on accuracy and love diving into all the details. You check everything thoroughly, number by number.
  • You always stay up to date on the latest legislative developments. You enjoy learning new things and attending tax seminars, conferences and events.
  • You have a Master’s degree in law or economics, an additional training in taxation is a plus
  • Fluent in spoken French, Dutch and English.

What do we bring to the table?

  • Start in a general position and discover which types of clients, duties or specialisations suit you best. After the starters days, you will build your own career along with your other new colleagues.
  • Take on increasing amounts of responsibility as the rest of your team stands by, ready to support you.
  • BDO Academy’s extensive list of training courses helps you grow both personally and professionally.
  • Sample projects from other Business Practices through our “flex pool”.
  • Options to work from home or from the nearest office, for example, and flexible working hours.
  • A competitive salary package with many attractive benefits such as a net expense allowance, company car, mobile phone plan, hospitalisation insurance, etc.
  • Work at a company with an integrated sustainability policy on issues such as climate impact and equality, diversity and inclusion, which actively contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Were you nodding to yourself enthusiastically as you read through the job description? Then be sure to send us your CV right away! May we soon welcome you as a new colleague!
